Our services
We offer a range of services for our equine clients, from routine procedures such as vaccinations, equine dentistry, castrations, worm and fly control advice and lameness investigations to more specialised techniques such as reproductive examination and ultrasound scanning, electrocardiography, x-rays and surgery. These can be done at the surgery in our equine stocks or at the stable.
Referrals
Where necessary we are happy to refer cases to specialist referral centres for more advanced treatments and we have good working relationships with a large number of such centres. We endeavour to give our horse clients a good, efficient, cost effective and friendly service.
Worming
Most horse owners are aware of the need to worm their horses on a regular basis. Almost every horse alive will have at least one parasitic worm in its body. It is important to realise that often these worms are present in low numbers and cause the horse no ill effects. However if the worm burden reaches a significant level, symptoms such as weight loss, diarrhoea and general ‘unthriftiness’ may develop. Large numbers of some species of worm are also associated with potentially life-threatening conditions. It is therefore clear that control of these worms is important to the welfare of the horse. For a further and more specific and targeted approach to worming your individual horses and ponies, why not drop a faecal sample in with us so that we can advise according to your individual circumstances following a worm egg count examination.
Passport and microchipping
We work closely with the Horse Passport Agency, providing them with accurate sketches of horses that require a passport. All horses should be microchipped so we ensure this is done efficiently before applying for the passport. We will complete the application on your behalf.
Exports
We have official veterinarians registered to provide export health certificates meaning we can export horses internationally.
