Farm Animals
Wern Vets began as a predominantly farm animal practice based in Ruthin.
A rural veterinary practice in North Wales
Although, like most other rural practices, we now treat large numbers of pets and horses and endeavour to give them the best possible treatment, our farm animal client base has continued to expand despite the large numbers of setbacks the agricultural industry has suffered over the last fifteen years.
Around 900 farms in North East Wales
We now serve around 900 farms in North East Wales including 80+ dairy units, 250 beef suckler units, 100 beef rearing / finishing units of various sizes and 500+ sheep flocks, as well as providing specialist farm animal services to a number of other units in North Wales.
Our facilities
Through our facilities, equipment, knowledge acquired through our own farming enterprises, continuous training, continuous innovation and most importantly through the dedication of our staff and vets we aim to provide a farm animal veterinary service that is second to none.
Stockmen and farmers
We are fortunate in having a large number of very keen, able stockmen and farmers as clients, many of which are recognized as being at the forefront of the breeding, showing or agricultural innovation game.
The demands of such clients combined with the dedication of our staff make for a stimulating and satisfying vet–farmer working relationship which enables Wern Vets to play a full part in influencing the profitability and future directions of their clients’ farming enterprises through:
- Preventative Herd and flock medicine
- Sound, impartial, nutritional advice
- Advanced Management of Reproduction on a herd / flock basis
- Achieving high herd / flock health status
- Using Information Technology to make routine tasks and analysis of farm performance easier.
- Bench marking / Farm performance
- Prompt, effective treatment and rapid accurate diagnosis where, despite our best efforts at preventative medicine things go wrong.
